Working with the community

Blog

Posted 5 years ago

In line with Berkeley’s collaborative, community-focused approach to development, we are committed to engaging with neighbours, local community groups and all key stakeholders to identify their priorities and ideas and answer any questions regarding the proposals from an early stage.

Your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated as we continue to develop the proposals for Borough Triangle and seek to maximise the benefits of its redevelopment for the community.

We have launched our first survey inviting initial responses to our vision for how the site could come forward, which may be accessed here.

We are committed to ensuring that as many local people as possible can take part in our consultation. If you have any suggestions regarding local groups with whom we should engage or additional platforms we could use to promote and widen the reach of the consultation, please do get in touch with us to share these.

Consultation process

As part of our extensive engagement programme, we will be using a variety of online and offline tools to engage with the community and encourage participation in our consultation, while safeguarding the community’s health and wellbeing during times of public health concern.

Our consultation website will act as the main hub for our engagement, with printed materials made available on request to those without access to the internet. We have promoted the website in a number of ways, including:

  • A printed flyer sent to 7,749 addresses in the local area;
  • An advert in Southwark News;
  • Social media adverts targeting residents of the area; and
  • Email invitations to local stakeholders, including councillors, neighbours and community groups.

We are keen to minimise the environmental impact of our engagement and are committed to ensuring that those of you without access to the internet or who would prefer not to engage digitally are given the opportunity to participate in the consultation through printed materials where necessary, as well as to engage with the team face-to-face in a safe manner.

We are also happy for you to contact the team via email, telephone and Freepost to leave feedback and request updates. We will also distribute a hard copy of our community newsletter to all residents and businesses within the local area on a regular basis to ensure you are all kept informed.

The consultation website and all blogs may be translated by those whose computers are set to another native language, using the browser. Anyone experiencing difficulties is invited to get in touch with the team by emailing contact@boroughtriangle.com or calling 020 3900 3676.

Timeline

This is the first phase of public consultation – we will present updated proposals to the community over the coming months which will demonstrate how the proposals have responded to the feedback received to date and seek further input on the plans. Following this, we are aiming to submit a planning application by the spring/summer of 2022.
