Happy New Year from the Borough Triangle team!

Blog

Posted 5 years ago

A recap on our progress

We hope you’ve had a great start to 2022. Thanks again to the hundreds of people who have shared feedback on our vision for the future of Borough Triangle so far.

We held a series of door knocking sessions, one-to-one meetings with local stakeholders, pop up events and online surveys during our initial consultation late last year. We appreciated the opportunity to get to know the community better and to hear your ideas on our vision.

It was encouraging to see particularly strong support for the creation of new public open spaces and pedestrian routes, both of which remain key elements of our vision for Borough Triangle.

Themes of feedback we have been considering as we have developed our plans further include:

  • The value of Mercato Metropolitano to the area and its future on the site
  • The need for affordable housing
  • Support for the greening of the site, safe local amenity areas and accessible spaces for all

For more information on last year’s consultation activities, please see the ‘Consultation update’ blog we published shortly before Christmas.

Next steps

We are developing our designs following discussions with officers at Southwark Council, taking into account the feedback received from the community to date.

We’ve published a blog providing more information on our emerging design approach, as well as our plans to submit information to the Council to support a future Environmental Impact Assessment for our proposals. Please do read this if you haven’t already and complete the associated survey. We welcome your thoughts and feedback.

We will be publishing further blogs and surveys on the website in the next few weeks, providing more information on a range of areas, including new homes; commercial spaces; public spaces; new routes and connections; and design and sustainability.

We’re also hoping to hold further consultation events to discuss the latest proposals with local people and will provide further detail on this in the coming weeks. We will be keeping a close eye on the Covid-19 situation and ensuring our activities run in line with Government guidance at that time.

Please sign up to our mailing list if you’d like to receive updates on our activities. If you have any questions or comments, please get in touch with us at contact@boroughtriangle.com.
